I remember when I was single and crushing on someone. I was so excited when he asked me out to dinner. Sadly, throughout the convo I quickly realized that I was “just a friend” & that he went on tons of “dinners” with his zillion female friends. I was just.a.friend. And meanwhile, I was planning our kids names. I was really upset that night and it was my fault. I placed an expectation on a crush & created a life in my head with him. Soooo, if you’re overthinking a platonic relationship, you may find yourself hurt at the end of it all. The year is 2014. Season 1 of the #Pigstory. Life is still smooth. Transition is as perfect as the HO/TO from one pilot to another. 🏋️My program is good enough to allow me to work out in the morning. _ Pipeline - Embakasi has been home for quite a while and has served me well. Life here is super fair. I pay 30/- for a day of gym. Yes. 30/-. Okay this gym is somewhere near Mukuru. Ssshhh 🤐 But 500/- a month. But that's not the issue.🤦🏽‍♂️ One day I'll tell the story of the irregular weights from Tononoka Steel _ There is this guy... Pinchez* & I nicknamed him 'Kandimu'. 😂 Now... Kandimu is these gym know it alls who work-out their mouths, more than their other body parts. And of course bullying the Bruce Lee's (Small bodies) like me. He always walked in with a lemon. Yes a lemon!!! 🤷🏽‍♂️Few of his work out demos work... Others are weird. But he's just weird. He talks too much... He insists he doesn't use steroids or weed like these other "bouncers" here making noise. I don't trust him. _ Seconds later a supplier, as skinny as a rail, walks in manoeuvring between the sweaty gymnuts and their stench of gases and sweat selling some huge tablets from an unmarked jar and everyone starts ordering... "Nipatie za mia" "Weka mia mbili" "Nipe Moja"... I watch in amusement as they all stretch their hands to receive their goodies.🤚🤚 My kind had not yet arrived. No sooner had I dropped the weights on my hands when she came through the door. She always knew where to start, her customers didn't have to shout. When she came to me I just pointed. 👉🏾 "Wekelea ya kumi pale..."🙄 _ These lemons reminded me... Of the "Kandimu" days... Fitness for life. Oh, yeah... And take lemons as they are no need for lemonade.
